ASSESSMENT OF THE COURSE

How the work is assessed

The GCSE in Photography is part of the Art and Design specification.

Assessment is in two parts.

Unit 1

A sketchbook showing development of  skills and knowledge and the preparation for the internally set coursework.

A project on a theme set internally, typically resulting in a board of 4-6 prints on that theme.

60% of total marks.

Unit 2

A sketchbook showing development and preparation work on a theme set by the examining board.

A project on the theme set by the board, typically resulting in a board of 4-6 prints on that theme.

40% of total marks.

In addition to the sketchbook, students can show development through their own websites. These websites allow additional material such as Youtube videos to be included in research as well as evidence such as screenshots, blogs, responses to assessment and videos  made by students.
